Peoples You’ll Meet

April 11, 2008 on 4:16 pm | In Uncategorized

Look! A new comic intro!

So, remember, the below damned are just a FEW of the folks you’ll meet here in the comic. I also thought it’d be fun to have them shout out something they like in life. Specifically, I asked everybody what gets their motor running. Here goes!

Let’s start with TJ DIETSCH

That’s right, TJ loves booze. He’s an associate editor over at Toyfare, which is down the hall from me. Right now his desk is covered in about 25 Green Lantern figures. All kinds. The guy looks like he’s building a corps.
TJ and I were roommates for a year before he up and got married. It was like “You Me and Rickey” up in that piece. I miss the showers we shared, TJ.

Moving on we’ve got my girlfriend SAM!

She loves monsters, our cat, baking, sewing, and when I fart in bed and pull the covers over her.
I’m kidding.
She doesn’t like sewing.

KIEL PHEGLEY!

Kiel’s one of our staff writers on the magazine and online and spent 17 days in a minimum security prison for stealing the dimes out of one of those March of Dimes cardboard things you see at the registers at some gas stations and then spending the money on a Lance Bass bobblehead. While in the facility, Kiel taught three guys how to read and started a fight club as well as an affordable tattoo parlor.

ANDY SERWIN!

Andy “Sugar Bear” Serwin is an associate editor over here and was possibly a polar bear in a past life. He likes hugs, the Black Crows, hugging the Black Crows, crow-hopping, hopping black hugs, and poetry. He lives with his dope-ass ladyfriend Beth.

DAVE PAGGI!

Dave’s the price guide editor here, but does so much more than just that. he also edits the Secret Stash section, runs a blog on our site, stalks Travis Charest, leaves me messages all over my desk like “I wiped a booger somewhere and you have 10 minutes to find it,” and he hates people who talk during movies. He’s a big fan of Grant Morrison, though. Let’s all hope Grant stays quiet during movies and enjoys booger humor.
Oh, and one time during Wizard World Texas, I farted on Dave cause I was all drunk and he was my hotel roommate. We’ve been tight ever since.

MATT POWELL!

What we have here is sarcasm. Matt actually is the biggest fan of Transformers I’ve ever met and HATED the Transformers film. Sorry, Matt. Michael Bay isn’t going anywhere.

JIM GIBBONS!

Jim’s our online editor-man and, I guess, likes dead bodies. But who can argue, right? Have YOU ever played with one? Don’t judge.
Jim puts up with a lot of sh-t from us. Like when he asks us to look around the internet for possible stories to cover and seven of us send him the shipping list for new porno releases each week.
Also, Jim is a massive frisbee pro. The guy’s built like a viking prince and more charming than Bob Hope ever was. Sorry, Bob, Jim’s voice soothes.

And that’s it! Obviously, there will be a ton of faces in the strip, so don’t worry if you hate everybody here.

Next week, a full story!

And if you have any questions or want to rap battle me, drop me a line at diary@wizardent.com

Stay up, Baby Boys.

The return…

April 1, 2008 on 6:21 am | In Uncategorized

Well, hello there.

So, for those of you who care (hey, mom!), the Diary strip is now officially back in an all-new format! See, I used to do this day-in-the-life strip once a week in a longer form, but between work, watching porn, drinking beer and more porn, I haven’t had a chance to keep up with it all.

But screw all that news, cause I’m back! Get ready for more info and insight into what it’s like to work at Wizard and hang out with the folks I do.

So, check back here every so often for updates to the blog, new strips, fresh jams and a picture of David Paggi naked.

And climbing a tree.

Next up specifically, I’ll be doing character catch-up bios detailing the normal faces you’ll see here in Diary. But for now: the first new strip:
